Information

How to grow a company while protecting its mission? Steward-ownership is an innovative way of shaping ownership of a company and allows it to scale while staying mission driven - now and in the future. Susanne van Straaten transitioned her online plants store Sprinklr to steward-ownership. Susanne will share her journey and Gijsbert Koren will explain how this model works. An expert panel will answer questions on the practicalities of steward-ownership. The expert panel is moderated by Nina de Korte, and consists of Marc Rasmussen - DOEN Participaties, Gijsbert Koren - We Are Stewards and Susanne van Straaten - impact entrepreneur and cofounder Sprinklr. Steward-owned businesses are run by stewards who are able to put the mission above profits. Stewards hold the formal voting rights at the level of shareholders. Investors can receive a fair return and exercise no or limited control over the company. Profits are reinvested in the company or distributed to investors according to clear agreements. With this, purpose comes before profit. The last few years, steward-ownership is gaining interest among impact-driven entrepreneurs and investors and has been implemented for decades, worldwide. Established companies such as Patagonia, Bosch, Carlsberg and TBI are all steward-owned. What does it take to be a good steward? And how can a steward-owned business be attractive for investors? Learn more about how steward-ownership works during this meetup!
